A single job when targeting tape or disk storage may not use all the resources of the server.
The defaults are set to use fewer resources.
Warning: Incorrect use of the Windows registry editor may prevent the operating system from functioning properly. Great care should be taken when making changes to a Windows registry.
1. In Windows, click Start and then click Run.
2. Type Regedit.
3. Click OK. The Registry Editor opens.
4. Navigate to the following path and create the Dword value -
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Veritas\Backup Exec For Windows\Backup Exec\Engine\NTFS
Create a DWORD - "FsIOBufferSize"
Set it to a decimal value: 2097152.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Veritas\Backup Exec For Windows\Backup Exec\Engine\NTFS
Create a Dword - "FsIOBufferCount"
Set it to a decimal value: 10.
5. Restart BE services. Test the backup and check if it helps to improve job performance.
