Cause

Insufficient buffer size is allocated to the RDX drive in Backup Exec. When the data being backed up exceeds the available buffer size, the error 0xe000fe13 is triggered.

 

Resolution

To resolve the error 0xe000fe13 - The data does not fit in the existing buffer, follow these steps:

  1. Open Backup Exec and go to the storage settings.
  2. Increase the buffer size for the RDX drive to the maximum value (1 MB).
  3. Save the changes and apply the new buffer size setting.

Additional Instructions:

  • Increase the virtual memory of the Backup Exec server  in accordance to available physical memory.
  • Reboot the Backup Exec server after making any configuration changes.

 

Issue/Introduction

"0xe000fe13 - The data does not fit in the existing buffer" when performing backups of Hyper-V VMs to an RDX drive using Backup Exec. This error occurs intermittently and affects different VMs each time.
