0xe00086ce Backup exec could not connect to the remote computer. Ensure that the remote computer is available, WMI is enabled, file and printer sharing and WMI is not blocked by the firewall.

Resolution

To resolve the error 0xe00086ce and successfully install the Windows agent, follow these steps: confirm remote computer availability, Enable WMI, check file and printer sharing, ensure Firewall is not blocking WMI, enable the Remote Registry service.
  1. Confirm that the remote computer is available and reachable on the network.
  2. Ensure that WMI (Windows Management Instrumentation) is enabled on the remote computer.
  3. Check if file and printer sharing is enabled on the remote computer.
  4. Verify that the firewall is not blocking WMI communication.
  5. Enable Remote Registry service on the remote server.
