Exception seen in Job Log -
Backup Exec failed to create an application consistent checkpoint for the 'Virtual Machine Name' virtual machine and created a crash consistent checkpoint. This issue can be due to a VSS snapshot failure. Refer to the Hyper-V-VMMS Admin event logs on the Hyper-V host or Application event logs related to VSS operations within the guest virtual machine to check if there are any events indicating application consistent checkpoint failures.
Some of the Virtual Machine Operating System may not support application consistent checkpoint.
At the time of writing this article, these OS (Ubuntu 20.04.5 LTS, Ubuntu 22.04.3 LTS, RHEL 7.9, Rocky Linux 9.3) were not on Microsoft's list to support production checkpoint and hence standard checkpoint was used which resulted in the exception in Backup Exec.
Refer points 3,4,5 from article below -

The exception is expected if Microsoft HyperV Operating System does not support a production checkpoint for that Virtual Machine operating system.
