Error Message

A quiesced snapshot could not be created for the virtual machine. Alternatively, a crash-consistent snapshot was created. It is recommended to have a quiesced snapshot of a VM to ensure data consistency of the file system and all VSS-supported applications.

Cause

VMware tools are not up to date.

Resolution

  1. Check whether VMware tools are up to date
  2. If not, update the VMware tools and reboot the virtual machines being backed up.
  3. Manually try to create a quiesced snapshot from the VMware.
  4. Once the manual quiesced snapshot is successful.
  5. Start the backup job.
