Error Message
Warning: An older version of SQL Server is detected that cannot be used with Backup Exec. Install the latest supported version of SQL Express instance or choose an existing SQL Server instance during the installation. Refer to the Backup Exec Software Compatibility List for more information.

Resolution
This issue is resolved in Backup Exec 23
Workaround:
Perform the below steps to select SQL Server 2022 instance as Backup Exec database.
1. In the Installation Type page, select the Custom installation radio button and click Next.

2. In the Environment Check page, ignore the warning message and click Next.

3. In the Choose SQL Server page, select the Use an existing instance of SQL Server 2017 or later supported SQL Server version radio button, type the server name\instance name in the open field, then click Next.
