Error Message


For VMware virtual machines, the Incremental backup Set's File/Folder GRT restore view displays no files in the folder. Restore or Backup Set view reports "None".


Cause

This is an issue with the Incremental and Differential catalog information written to tape when VMware File/Folder GRT is enabled. 

 

Resolution

This issue is currently under investigation by Veritas Technologies LLC. Pending the outcome of the investigation, this issue may be resolved by way of a patch or hotfix in current or future revisions of the software. However, this particular issue is not currently scheduled for any release.  If you feel this issue has a direct business impact for you and your continued use of the product, please contact your Veritas Sales representative or the Veritas Sales group to discuss these concerns.
 
Note: Customers experiencing this issue are encouraged to contact Veritas Technical Support as data is still being collected to assist in resolving this issue.


Workaround:

Select the folder to restore the files within it (which is not showing in Restore view).
 

Note: Incremental VMware file GRT backups to disk with delayed catalog and Duplicate jobs from disk to tape do not exhibit this behavior. File GRT restore selections are present. 
VMWare VM Application GRT is not impacted.

In Backup Exec 22.x, File/Folder GRT enabled VMWare Virtual machine Incremental or Differential backup sets on tape do not display the file contents of a folder in the Restore view.
