Error Message

"Failed to Upgrade Apache Tomcat"
 

When the Apache Tomcat Components are upgraded using VxUpdate, a backup copy of the previous version is saved in a folder called 'Tomcat-bkp'. 

Subsequent Tomcat Component upgrades will attempt to run, but fail as the 'Tomcat-bkp' backup folder already exists.

These 'Tomcat-bkp' folders will exist under the ..\Veritas DLO\Dedupe and ..\Veritas DLO\IOServer (if IO Server is installed)  path(s). See the screenshots below;

Step 1. Browse to "C:\Program Files\Veritas\Veritas DLO\Vxupdate" folder and review the latest ApacheTomcat_Component_xx-xx-xx-xx-xx.log. Check the lines from around the time of the upgrade failure. If it matches the error shown in figure 3 below, then proceed to Step 2.

C:\Program Files\Veritas\Veritas DLO\IOServer\Tomecat-bkp folder exists. Please delete the folder proceed with component Upgrade.

Step 2. Rename 'Tomcat-bkp ' folder(s) from both locations "C:\Program Files\Veritas\Veritas DLO\Dedupe" and the "C:\Program Files\Veritas\Veritas DLO\IO Server".

Step 3. Run the Tomcat Component upgrade again and it should complete successfully.

Note: The installation paths shown above are from a default installation. The path C:\Program Files\Veritas\.. may be different if DLO was installed to a different drive\location.  

This issue is currently being considered by Veritas Technologies LLC to be addressed in the next major revision of the product.  There are no plans to address this issue by way of a patch or hotfix in the current or previous versions of the software at the present time.  Please note that Veritas Technologies LLC reserves the right to remove any fix from the targeted release if it does not pass quality assurance tests or introduces new risks to overall code stability.  Veritas’ plans are subject to change and any action taken by you based on the above information or your reliance upon the above information is made at your own risk.
