How to enable debug for troubleshooting Microsoft 365 Backup or Restore problems

1. Launch SGMON.exe from BE Install Path\SGMON.exe

2. Click on Capture -> select the checkboxes as shown in the below screenshot.



3. Click on Settings from the Debug Tab in SGMON -> select management and select all checkboxes for (click on component dropdown SCFConnector (refer screenshots )
 


 

4. Highlight Catalogs -> Select checkbox and set debug to 1. Set it to 3 or 5 only when recommended by Technical Support.
Click on OK, save the settings.

 




Run the backup or restore job which reproduces the error being troubleshooted. If the job fails, then collect the following logs to review the problem.
 

1. Job Log ( Collect Job Logs from the latest consolidated Full run till the most recent Job Log where failure is seen.
 

2. SGMON Log from BE Install Path\Logs folder
Confirm the path of the SGMON Log from registry - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Veritas\Backup Exec For Windows\Backup Exec\Debug

3.  Collect log files covering the time stamp of the job failure.

Confirm the path of Logs folder from registry - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Veritas\Backup Exec For Windows\Backup Exec\Debug

O365OneDrive_00000*.log
O365SharePoint_00000*.log
O365Teams_00000*.log
scf_0000*.log
 

4. Collect logs in Catalogs folder from BE Install Path\Logs\Catalogs folder

Confirm the path of the Logs folder from registry -

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Veritas\Backup Exec For Windows\Backup Exec\Debug 

Path (String Value)


Note: Set the settings back to default before closing SGMON after the backup or restore test is done, else catalog logging will continue to write to log file).
