If the drive mentioned in the registry path is not present, removed, or does not exist the Backup Exec Remote Agent Service (beremote.exe) will fail to start and crash.

This issue is resolved in Backup Exec 22.2.
Workaround:
Note: Backup Exec versions before 22.2 an follow this workaround
The following change will need to be made via Registry Editor (regedit.exe) on the server where Backup Exec Remote agent is crashing due to the nonexistent drive set in Debug path.
1. Connect to the server where the Backup Exec remote agent service (beremote) crash is seen.
Right Click on the Windows Start tile -> Run -> type Regedit. Hit enter.
Warning: Incorrect use of the Windows registry editor may prevent the operating system from functioning properly. Great care should be taken when making changes to a Windows registry. Registry modifications should only be carried-out by persons experienced in the use of the registry editor application. It is recommended that a complete backup of the registry and workstation be made prior to making any registry changes.
2. Locate the String Value Path at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Veritas\Backup Exec For Windows\Backup Exec\Debug.
Update the registry with a valid drive letter (Path) which exists on the server.
3. Start the Backup Exec Services or Backup Exec Remote Agent Service.
