Cause
This appears to be triggered by a VSN (Very Simple Notification) scan of Tape Devices, that completes a cycle every minute. The cycle starts from when the Backup Exec services were last restarted.
When that option resets itself depends on how far VSN is through it's current cycle;
i.e. if the Verify option is Disabled when VSN is 45 seconds into the current cycle, the Verify option will be re-Enabled 15 seconds later.
Resolution
This issue is resolved in Backup Exec 22.2.
Workaround
In earlier versions of Backup Exec, if there is a requirement to run the Duplicate job with Verify Disabled, untick that option and immediately submit the job to run, before the option is auto-reset.
Issue/Introduction
While duplicating backup sets from Tape to Tape, if a Robotic Library is selected as the Storage device, the Verify option is Disabled (unticked) and the Duplicate job is not submitted to run straight away, within 1 minute the Verify option will be re-Enabled automatically.
This change does not occur if the Storage device is set to be a specific Tape Drive or 'Any tape device storage' under Storage Pools.
Other options / settings in the Duplicate job are not affected.
