Veritas recommends to add the server in the Backup and Restore tab with any one name. Use the IP address, Fully Quaified Domain Name (FQDN), or Netbios of the server to be backed up. If same server is added via the above names (FQDN or IP or FQN), it is recommended to run the backups by configuring job from one particular server container only.

Example - HV2017N1, HV2017N1.FQDN and 192.xxx.y.177 is the same server being backed up with same selections. Check Host components, it shows up with name HV2017N1, HV2017N1.FQDN and with 192.xxx.y.177.

Do not configure Jobs to back up same resource from different resource container. If a job backing up C drive has been run from IP address container and from Hostname container, then keep only one job to backup that server resource. Then remove the extra set from capacity calculation (Refer Q16 Capacity Calculation FAQ).
Note: If a particular Job is configured to be backed up as a VM ( VMDK or VHDX level backup) with GRT and another job is backing up the same virtual machine via the agent based selections then the VM backup set size will not be calculated double (VM level and Agent level Backup). Refer Q18 Capacity Calculation FAQ to take a note of the limitation.
