Description

Error Message

Error 1320: the specified path is too long: D
or
Error 1327. Invalid Drive :D

Cause

This issue is caused by an invalid junction point at :\Program Data\Documents, which resolves to a non-existing location or network drive location instead of the Public Documents folder.

Resolution

A) Error 1320: the specified path is too long: D
Reboot the server and try installing the upgrade once again.

B) Error 1327. Invalid Drive
Reboot the server and try the installation again. If it still fails open an elevated Admin CMD prompt and run the following command ‘subst X: Y:\‘, replace the placeholders as required and press Enter.

Note: X is the placeholder for the non-existent drive and Y is the placeholder for your OS drive type the command without the quotes.

Example: If encountering the Error 1327. Invalid Drive F:\ and and the Windows Server OS is installed on the C:\ drive, the correct command would be ‘subst F: C:\ ‘

  1. Once the command has been successfully processed, close the elevated CMD prompt and restart the Server.
  2. Now once the server is rebooted start the Upgrade installation.
