When sending an email via Test SMTP Configuration, in DLO, the email is not send and generates an error
Failed to send test email

Gmail SMTP server Port 587 is a Secure port and requires SMTP Authentication configured to use that. The default Gmail User account and password is not sufficient and Gmail now requires an Application specific password to be defined to connect.
A 16-character App Password code needs to be generated from the user Gmail account settings.
See Google Help pages for details about this App Password and how to create that : Sign in with App Passwords - Google Account Help
DLO currently cannot interpret that App Password and fails the SSL Secure connection.
Patches are available for use in DLO versions 9.6, 9.7, 9.8 and 9.8.2 that allow the App Password to be interpreted correctly. Please contact Veritas Support to be provided these patches, if needed, but it is recommended that customers upgrade to DLO 9.8.3 to get the public fix for this issue.
Once the patch is in place, the 'Configure SMTP for emails' settings will need to be changed, to ensure the 16-character App Password code is entered into the SMTP Authentication 'Sender password' and 'Confirm password' fields, instead of the normal Gmail account password (see screenshot below).

There are no plans to address this issue by way of a hotfix in earlier versions of the software at the present time. However, the issue has been addressed in the revision of the product specified at the end of this article.
Please contact your Veritas Sales representative or the Veritas Sales group for upgrade information including upgrade eligibility to the release containing the resolution for this issue.
This issue is resolved in the DLO 9.8.3 release.
