Description

Error Message

0x13 - The media is write protected

Debug logs may show the following:

PVLSVR:   [08/18/22 14:22:11] [5320]     AdammSession::IsOverwriteMediaMounted() - ERROR = 0x00000450 (ERROR_NO_DATA_DETECTED)
PVLSVR:   [08/18/22 14:22:11] [5320]     PvlDrive::WriteMediaHeader()

Alternatively, backup jobs may not report an error message, but may repeatedly mount and dismount Scratch Media tapes, giving the impression that they are not Scratch Media.

Once all Scratch Media in the RTL have been tried, an alert will prompt to insert Overwritable Media into the library.

Cause

A hardware encryption USB key (or "token") is plugged into the RTL (Robotic Tape Library), that requires the user to "log on" to it before it is operational.

Resolution

If the device requires a user to log in to it, ensure this step has been performed successfully.
