Description

Please refer below for instructions on running both FIXINSTALL.BAT and UNINSTALL.BAT for System Recovery. These files may be obtained from the Backup Exec support portal

Solution

CAUTION: Please use "Add or Remove Programs" or "Programs and Features" in the Control Panel to uninstall products cleanly, uninstall.bat should be used only if problems occurred when uninstalling the product.  Running uninstall.bat without using "Add or Remove Programs" or "Programs and Features" first might leave unnecessary files or registry keys on the system.

Note: Uninstall.bat does not remove the recovery point files and its folders, and VProRecovery folder(s) on the backup destination machine.  Please remove them manually if unnecessary.

These files can be used to repair an existing install, or completely remove System Recovery.

To completely uninstall SR:

This uninstall batch file will uninstall the “System Recovery" product only on 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems. Note below that xx represents the version of SR you are using (eg 18/21/22/23 etc)

  1. Download the UninstallVSRxx.zip file that matches your VSR version from the Download Center and extract to the C:\ root directory. UninstallVSRxx.bat is extracted. The file must be in the same location in order for the uninstallation to occur.
  2. Open a command prompt and navigate to C:\.
  3. Run the following command from Windows Command Prompt :

UninstallVSRxx.bat -I "C:\Program Files\Veritas\Veritas System Recovery\"

*If you modified the installation path of VSR during the original install, modify the command above to reflect that same path. Confirm that the folder is still present in the command line. If not, create a new empty folder in that location with the name Veritas System Recovery. The uninstall cannot complete without this folder in place.

  1. Reboot the system.

SR is now completely uninstalled.

To repair an existing install of SR:

  1. Download FixInstallxx.zip to the following directory and extract to the C:\ root directory. Fixinstall.bat is extracted.
  2. Right-click on the file and choose Run as Administrator. A command prompt box will open while the file runs and will close when completed.
  3. Reboot the system.

The repair of the SR installation is now complete.
