This is by design.
VM backups are crash and application consistent. During a VM backup, the appropriate VSS writers (in this case SQL writer) ensures the application is consistent.

Veritas recommends that in a environment where SQL runs in a VM, a regular SQL Consistency Check via DBCC is run outside of Backup Exec.

 

Issue/Introduction

In Backup Exec; a SQL Consistency Check (DBCC) can be configured / enabled to be run when performing a SQL Agent backup job.


The same SQL Consistency Check configuration is not possible when performing a backup of a virtual machine (VM) via the Virtual Machine Agent.
