Error Message

Final error: 0x10cc - The media identifier does not represent a valid medium.
Final error category: Other Errors

For additional information regarding this error refer to link V-79-0-4300

Cause

When a restore job that includes individual items from a GRT-enabled backup job is delegated to a managed Backup Exec server, the Backup Exec engine queries the storage information in the Backup Exec catalog and the catalog does not include the managed Backup Exec server information that ran the backup job. This causes the query to fail and then the restore fails.

Resolution

Ensure the backup job runs on a server who is the owner of the storage device. Since the host that has done the backup or owns the device is best one to initiate a restore, configure the restore job to run on the same Backup Exec server on which the backup job was performed.

Issue/Introduction

In a Central Administration Server - Managed Backup Exec server (CAS-MBES) environment, the restore job immediately fails with this error if the media is not present on the Backup Exec server that runs the restore job.
