A backup of a virtual machine using the VMware Agent may fail with the following error:

The above issue is seen under the following condition:

1. The VMware Virtual Center (VC) certificates have been renewed 
2. Backup Exec is still referring to older VC certificate. 
 

Restart the Backup Exec services and re-run the backup job.
