Description

Error Message

Error E0A20006: Cannot create image: Snapshot driver is not available.

Error E0A20019: Backup Failed.

Cause

This is by design. System Recovery uses a Symbdsnap snapshot driver when backing up. However, secure boot does not load the Symbdsnap snapshot driver which is not a GPL but a proprietary license.

Resolution

WORKAROUND:

Please disable secure boot.

1.      On vSphere Client or web client, navigate to the Linux Virtual Machine.

2.      Power Off the Linux Virtual Machine.

3.      Right-click on the Linux Virtual Machine and select [Edit Settings].

4.      On [Edit setting] window, navigate to [VM Options] tab, and expand [Boot Options].

5.      Under [Boot Options], uncheck the checkbox for [Enable UEFI Secure Boot]. (See Figure 1)

Figure 1

6.      Click [OK] to save.

7.      Power ON the Linux Virtual Machine.

1. Open Hyper-V manager.

2. Right-click on the VM, and select [Settings...].

3. Click [Security] and uncheck [Enable Secure Boot].

Please see a manual for the physical machines and disable the secure boot option.
