Error Message

Backup job fails with following error:
[Final error: 0xe00084f8 - The network connection to the Backup Exec Remote Agent has been lost. Check for network errors.]
[Final error category: Resource Errors]

Workaround:

Disable AOFO (Advanced Open File Option)

1. On the Linux server where the Agent for Linux is installed, open the
ralus.cfg file in the following path:

   /etc/VRTSralus/ralus.cfg

2. Navigate to the following key:

   "Software\Symantec or Veritas\Backup Exec For Windows\Backup Exec\Engine\RALUS\DisableOFO=0"

3. Change the value of "DisableOFO=0" to "1" so that it now reads as "DisableOFO=1".

4. Save the ralus.cfg file.

5. Restart Remote Agent for Linux/Unix Servers (RALUS) daemons by running the following command,
    /etc/init.d/VRTSralus.init restart

Note: The default value of the "DisableOFO=" key is "0", meaning AOFO is enabled by default.

Note:  Backup jobs may complete with exceptions after disabling AOFO (Advanced Open File Option) as Backup Exec will skip the files that are in use.

Backup Exec has acknowledged that the above-mentioned issue is present in the current version(s) listed under the Product(s) Section of this article. Backup Exec is committed to product quality and satisfied customers. This issue is currently under investigation by Backup Exec. Pending the outcome of the investigation, this issue may be resolved by way of a patch or hotfix in current or future revisions of the software. However, this particular issue is not currently scheduled for any release.
