Cause

The retention option "Retained for Consolidate Full Job" is sometimes not removed with the full backup job.

 

Resolution

The Issue is fixed in Backup Exec 21.2.

Note: This fix is effective for the full backup after the patch installation. Follow the workaround section below for previous full backup set and backup sets older the previous full backup set.

 

Workaround:

1. Open Admin console and go to Storage tab.

2. Double click the destination storage device.

3. Select Backup Sets pane. Figure 1 will be seen.

4. Select the blue backup set whose retention period has expired.

Multiple backup set can be selected at a time with Ctrl or Shift key.

Warning: Do not select the latest full backup set and subsequent incremental backup sets.

 

5. Right click the backup sets then click Retain.

6. Select Do not retain. (Figure 2)

7. Warning message will pop up. Click Yes. (Figure 3)

8. Click OK to the Retain Backup Sets screen.

9. Right click the backup sets again then click Expire.

10. Click Expire All. (Figure 4)
