Cause

A high count of small files and folders can cause performance issues due to current file system libraries the Backup Exec Remote Agent for Linux and Unix server (RALUS) uses by default.

A hotfix is now available for this issue in the current version(s) of the product(s) mentioned. Refer to the Hotfix link under Related Articles to obtain the hotfix needed to resolve the issue.

Backup Exec 21 Update 2 - Backup Exec 21.2

WORKAROUND:
Use the generic file system provider.

  • Stop RALUS
For more info see: How to start and stop the Ralus Linux agent
  • Rename the following two files from:
    - libjfs.so  to libjfs.org
    - libjfs2.so  to  libjfs2.org
    (present under /opt/VRTSralus/VRTSvxms/lib/map/aix64)
  • Start RALUS

Renaming the above libraries will allow RALUS to use the generic provider.
