“Operating System not found”
Scenario:
1. Run a full backup of a VM and then run few incremental backups of the same VM.
2. Perform an Instant Recovery of the VM using any of the incremental backup set.
3. Perform a restore of the VM using any incremental backup set.
4. Remove the Instantly recovered VM from Backup Exec using the “Remove a recovered VM” option.
5. Perform Instant Recovery of the VM, by selecting a different incremental backup set this time.
6. It is observed that the Instant Recovery job completes successfully in Backup Exec, however the VM remains in-accessible from remote console or the VM administration/management console (like VSphere Web Client etc.). The VM in this case does not boot up and shows Operating system not found error on the command prompt.
Workaround:
Option 1
1. Remove the Instantly recovered VM from Backup Exec using the “Remove a recovered VM” option.
2. Re-run the same instant recovery job of VM and access the recovered VM.
Option 2 (if Option 1 does not work)
1. Remove the Instantly recovered VM from Backup Exec using the “Remove a recovered VM” option.
2. Restart the “Backup Exec PureDisk Filesystem Service”.
3. Re-run the same instant recovery job of VM and access the recovered VM.
