Description
Error Message
If a License is added to the Backup Exec installation screen, the following message will be displayed;
"The serial number that was provided cannot be validated. Verify that the serial number is correct, and then enter it again"
If the 'Synchronize Entitlements with Licensing Portal' hyperlink is used in the Backup Exec console Home page, the following message will be displayed;
"License portal cannot be reached to synchronize the entitlements".
Cause
Firewall settings are blocking access to the necessary Licensing server
Resolution
Backup Exec requires access to the the following resources and Port to contact the Licensing Portal;
- *.veritas.com and *.vrt.as via HTTPS Port 443
- cc.3c.2ca9.ip4.static.sl-reverse.com (IP: 169.44.60.204)
- 23.73.30.46 IP
Please ensure that access through the firewall is provided, to allow the Backup Exec server to validate Licenses and Entitlements.
Issue/Introduction
Unable to access the Veritas Licensing Portal through a firewall.
This will prevent the validation of Licenses and the synchronization of Entitlements in Backup Exec.
