Resolution

If there is a scheduling conflict and two Duplicate jobs are scheduled to run at the same time, use the Exclude Dates option in the Schedule settings of the most frequently run job, to stop this job from running .

Example: -  if you have a Weekly Duplicate job that is scheduled to run every Friday and a Monthly Duplicate that is scheduled to run only on the 1st Friday of each month, configure Exclude Dates in the Weekly Duplicate schedule, to exclude the 1st Friday of each Month. The Monthly Duplicate will then run on the 1st Friday, with no conflict with the Weekly Duplicate, which will be scheduled to run all other Fridays.

The Exclude Dates option is found as part of the Job Schedule settings, as shown below;

Multiple Exclude Dates can then be selected either using the calendars provided or by using the Select Date field and clicking the Add button. The dates selected to be excluded are listed in the field at the bottom, as seen below;

Issue/Introduction

In the Backup Exec Administration Guide it is explained 'Backup Exec resolves scheduling conflicts between two backup jobs by running the less common job and skipping the more common job...If two backup jobs of the same type are scheduled to run at the same time, Backup Exec runs the less frequently scheduled job.The more frequently scheduled job is skipped '. These Scheduling Conflict rules do not apply to Duplicate Jobs If two Duplicate jobs conflict, both jobs will attempt to run, with the second starting after the first has completed.
