Error Message
SDR Restore job fails with error “A failure occurred restoring because the files cannot be replaced, and no alternate location was specified”.
Cause
This issue is seen when attempting SDR for a system with BIOS firmware. From Windows 10 version 1903 onwards, it has been observed that a WINRE partition is created during the Windows install or upgrade process.
Resolution
This issue was addressed in Backup Exec 21.3, as part of adding Windows 2022 Server support.
Workaround for older BE versions: Perform manual disaster recovery of remote agent on a Windows server as per steps mentioned in the below section of Backup Exec Administrator’s guide.
