This issue was found to be due to 'orphaned' backup set that were referenced in the database at the Storage Destination, but did not exist on disk or were known about by the VSR console. This caused the system to miscalculate the available space.
There are no plans to address this issue by way of a patch or hotfix in earlier versions of the software at the present time. However, the issue has been addressed in the revision of the product specified at the end of this article.
Please contact your Veritas Sales representative or the Veritas Sales group for upgrade information including upgrade eligibility to the release containing the resolution for this issue.
Applies to
Veritas System Recovery 18 Service Pack 4
Note: Be aware that VSR will write the new Recovery Point Set, before removing the oldest set and therefore 'working space', to write an additional Recovery Point Set, needs to be included in the calculation when setting the threshold.
