Cause

This issue is seen if the 'Veritas Backup Exec for windows servers.msi' file is not found in windows installer folder and the ISO image or DVD disk used for initial Backup Exec installation is also not mounted or unavailable.

Resolution

Note: Original installation media file named 'Backup_Exec__MultiPlatforms_Multilingual.zip' should be downloaded (e.g - Backup_Exec_20.6_1188.2718_MultiPlatforms_Multilingual.zip) 

  1. Check Installed BE version --> Backup Exec --> Help and Documentations --> About Backup Exec.
  2. Download Backup Exec ISO file of currently installed version from Veritas Download Center:
  3. Extract the Backup Exec ISO package on the Backup Exec servers local disk (Ensure its not in the remote share location).
  4. Click Browse button on the above window, navigate to the extracted Backup Exec installation files path (BE-->WinNT-->Install-->BEx64-->Install-->Media-->Veritas Backup Exec for windows servers.msi)

  1. Select 'Veritas Backup Exec for windows servers.msi' and click OK.

 

Issue/Introduction

This feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available. Insert the 'Veritas Backup Exec' Disk and click OK. Above mentioned prompt appears in one of the following scenarios:
  • Installation of Backup Exec updates.
  • Adding new feature or option to the existing Backup Exec product.
  • Installation of licenses.
  • Backup Exec repair.
