Cause

If SDR wizard queries CAS then the sets are shown corresponding to the media server who ran the latest backup job. If latest job is run by MMS then only MMS sets are shown. If latest job is run by CAS then only CAS sets will be shown and if there are any intermediate sets run by MMS then those will not be shown.

Resolution

Workaround :

a.      For Distributed and Replicated mode Managed Backup Exec Server configuration, during Simplified Disaster recovery, if it connect to MBES then Recovery Points created by MBES server will be available for restore.

b.      Perform Local Simplified Disaster Recovery by using .DR file of protected server on MBES server if backup is taken on disk storage using below step

1)     Disable disk storage lockdown status from BE console of MMS server using BE setting->Network and Security->Disk Storage LockDown Setting Status->click Disable

2)     Enable Network File and Folder sharing on “BEData” folder and assign appropriate rights to user

3)     On machine where simplified disaster recovery is to be performed, Map above shared BEData folder as network drive using “Network->Map a network drive” option from Backup Exec Simplified Recovery Disk wizard

4)     Select “Recovery->The data is located on devices locally attached to this computer” to perform Local recovery from backup sets residing on BEData folder

This above workaround (point b) is also applicable to the scenario where customer has CAS-MMS configuration in centralized catalog mode and the customer wants to recover from older backups which are run by MMS.

Issue/Introduction

While performing Simplified Disaster recovery using Remote Recovery option, If users connects to CAS Server then not all recovery points are showed. It just shows latest recovery points, created by either of CAS or MMS server
