Description
Error Message
The following error message is displayed:
“No Storage devices are detected. Add a storage device that contains the backup data for this computer.”
Cause
Access to disk based storage is restricted as the Disk storage Lockdown setting is enabled on the Backup Exec server and any changes to the storage can only be done by Backup Exec. As SDR Local Restore needs write access to BEData folder it fails to detect the storage device and displays the error message.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, disable the Disk Storage Lockdown setting using following steps
- On the Backup Exec server, go to Configuration Settings > Backup Exec Settings > Settings
- Select Network and Security.
- Click Disable to disable the setting by providing the System Logon Account credentials.

Issue/Introduction
As the Disk Storage Lockdown setting is enabled on the Backup Exec server, any changes to the disk-based storage can only be done by Backup Exec. SDR local restore needs write access to BEData folder, and so SDR wizard fails to detect storage device as permission is restricted.
