SDR recovery fails with error “The job failed with the following error: A failure occurred restoring because the files cannot be replaced and no alternate location was specified."
Cause
On BIOS systems, after build-to-build upgrade of the operating system, some Windows RE specific files are not found on the boot drive and causes the system state restore to fail.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, manually install the operating and perform Backup Exec online system recovery.
Issue/Introduction
If you have installed Windows Server 2019 GA build that Microsoft released in October 2018 (build #17763.1) and if you upgrade this operating system to the Windows Server 2019 GA build Microsoft released again in November 2018 (build #17763.107), you may see issues with SDR recovery of such an operating system.
The issue impacts only BIOS systems. SDR restore of EFI systems, upgraded this way, work properly.
