Description

Error Message

The following error message is displayed:

A task was canceled.

Cause

Task cancellation occurs because of the http client timeout. The task cancellation is not initiated by Backup Exec. The default timeout value is 100 seconds.

Resolution

This is a temporary issue and may be resolved automatically.

If the issue occurs frequently, you can increase the Http client timeout value to more than 100 seconds. Create a DWORD registry key HttpClientTimeoutInSeconds under “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Veritas\Backup Exec For Windows\Backup Exec\Server\AzureSiteRecovery”.

Changing the registry may reduce the frequency of task cancellation issue.

Issue/Introduction

When some Azure APIs take longer than the default http client timeout, they are canceled automatically. When the APIs timeout, an error message is displayed on the Instant Cloud Recovery tab in the Backup Exec user interface.
