Description

Error Message

The following error is displayed: "V-79-57344-34128 - Linux Snapshot Technology: An error occurred while trying to snap one or more volumes."

Cause

With Backup Exec 20.3 new AOFO drivers are added to support recent versions of RHEL and SLES. The new version of the driver does not support BTRFS on SLES 12.

Resolution

To disable AOFO-L based snapshot jobs, perform the following steps:

  1. Stop the RALUS agent by running the “/opt/VRTSralus/bin/VRTSralus.init stop” command.
  2. After the agent has stopped, edit the /var/VRTSralus/ralus.cfg file and replace
    “Software\Symantec\Backup Exec For Windows\Backup Exec\Engine\RALUS\DisableOFO=0”           with
    “Software\Symantec\Backup Exec For Windows\Backup Exec\Engine\RALUS\DisableOFO=1”.
  3. Restart the RALUS agent by running the “/opt/VRTSralus/bin/VRTSralus.init start” command.
  4. Run the backups for the Linux agent on SLES 12. The backups complete without any exceptions.

Issue/Introduction

For Backup Exec 20.1 and Backup Exec 20.2, backups for BTRFS completed successfully. With Backup Exec 20.3 backups for SLES 12 BTRFS volumes complete with an exception and an error message is displayed in the job log.
