The Operating System level permissions prevent Backup Exec from being able to restore the Windows Defender files/folders successfully. The errors can happen when Backup Exec tries to create an object or open an existing object during the restore operation.

C:\windows\system32\drivers\wd
C:\Program Files\Windows Defender
C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Defender

Resolution

This is known issue acknowledged by Microsoft. As per Microsoft, the restore errors around Windows Defender files can be ignored as long as the Defender services functioning is not impacted.

Alternately, if the entire system needs to be restored, one can do the restore using the Backup Exec Simplified Disaster Recovery on a bare metal system. These errors will not be seen there. .
