Description
Error Message
The following error is displayed:
Failed to create the standby virtual machine required for warm conversion.
Cause
This issue occurs when a B2V target is a machine with RS4 operating system. The required Microsoft APIs do not work if the target of the B2V (VM Creation) operation is the root of a boot drive.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, ensure that you always select non-boot drive volumes or sub folders within the boot drive as a target for the B2V operation.
Issue/Introduction
If a B2V job is targeted to the root of a boot drive (for example, C:\), the job may fail. The job succeeds if the target is a sub folder in the boot drive (for example, C:\tempfolder) or any non-boot drive volume. For example, E:\ or E:\tempfolder.
