Cause

The default PowerShell version of Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008/2008 R2 does not support all AWS commands that are required for Amazon Manage Image (AMI) creation in cloud.

Resolution

To create AMI of Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008/2008 R2, perform the following steps:

  1. Create a .vhd on a Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008/2008 R2 machine using recovery point set of Veritas System Recovery.
  2. Copy all .vhd files to Windows Server 8/8.1/10 or Window Server 2012/2012 R2/2016 where Veritas System Recovery is installed.
  3. Run the CREATE_AMI_IN_AWS PowerShell script on the machine where the .vhd files are copied and provide the .vhd file name path.
