How to Debug the Backup Exec Console thru the Debug UI Tab.

In certain scenarios with the assistance of Technical Support it may be necessary to debug the Backup Exec console UI outside of Backup Exec live debug utility SGMON.exe or in combination with SGMON.

To enable Backup Exec Console Debug Windows launch BackupExec.exe or Bkuplaunch.exe with a /DEBUG switch.

 

Edit the Backup Exec shortcut icon and add /DEBUG after the quotes. Figure 1

Launch the Backup Exec Console and a new Debug tab will be available in the console.  Figure 2.

The Debug Tab will contain Connection Call, Debug Log, Binding Errors, Model, and Usage Tracking data avaiable for Technical Support to analyze.

When reviewing the Debug Tab the most common errors will be in the Connection Call or Debug Logs coponents. Figure 2 and Figure 3

 

NOTE: The /Debug switch should only be enabled with assistance from Technical support.  The /DEBUG switch should be removed immediately after troubleshooting.  If the /Debug switch and option is left on it may cause console crashes or console performance issues.
