Description

Error Message

0xe000038d - Backup Exec could not backup the Exchange database because it could not find a healthy copy of the database.
UMI: V-79-57344-909

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: Microsoft-Windows-User Profiles Service
Event ID: 1530
Description:
Windows detected your registry file is still in use by other applications or services. The file will be unloaded now. The applications or services that hold your registry file may not function properly afterwards.

Cause

Backup Exec gets Exchange server information using the PowerShell commands. This is done through the remote PowerShell command. However, the Operating System often closes the user profile and the related registry while the remote PowerShell session is alive and if the user is not logged in to the server. As the result, Backup Exec fails to find a healthy copy of the database.

Resolution

  1. Start the Local Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc) on the Exchange Server where Event ID 1530 was logged
  2. Go to [Computer Configuration > [Administrative Templates] > [System] > [User Profiles]
  3. Enable [Do not forcefully unload the user registry at user logoff]
  4. Restart the server or run gpupdate command.
