Description
Error Message
The following error is displayed:
The job was canceled because the response to a media request alert was Cancel, or because the alert was configured to automatically respond with Cancel, or because the Backup Exec Job Engine service was stopped.
Cause
Backup Exec installs Visual C++ 2015 runtimes in the latest version. On Windows 2008 SP2 32-bit or 64-bit machines when you do a push install, the Visual C++ 2015 runtimes are installed successfully but does not return a message that the install is successful. This causes Backup Exec push install of RAWS to timeout and fail.
Resolution
To install Backup Exec Remote Agent for Windows Servers on Windows 2008 SP2 32-bit and 64-bit machines, run the install manually on the machine where you want to install the agent for Backup Exec. Perform the following steps:
- Log on to the Backup Exec media server where server install was done and go to the directory where Backup Exec is installed. For example, C:\Program Files\Veritas\Backup Exec
- Go to Agents > VCRedist directory.
- Copy the 32-bit or 64-bit file from the folders with the VCRedist directory. For example, vcredist_x64 is a 64 bit machine, vcredist_x86.exe is a 32-bit machine.
- Place all files from each version in the machine (Windows 2008 SP2) where you want to install the remote agent for Backup Exec.
- Run the VC runtimes and wait until all the VC++ runtimes are completely installed on the remote machine.
- Log on to the Backup Exec media server and go into the Agents > RAWS32 (for 32-bit install) or Agents > RAWSX64 (for 64-bit install) directory and then into the remote machine where you want to install the remote agent for Backup Exec.
- Run Setup.exe from the RAWS32 or the RAWSX64 folder for appropriate RAWS install.
- After the installation is complete, you can add the remote machine to the Backup Exec Media server console using the Add Server > Add a Windows computer option and it is added successfully.
You can now protect the remote machines that have Windows 2008 SP2 with Backup Exec.
