Perform the following step to
enable Client Side Deduplication:
1. Go to [Storage]-[Deduplication disk storage detail]-[Properties] then select [Enabled] for Client-side deduplication, then click [Apply]
2. Add a remote server in Backup and Restore tab.
3. Select the server then create a new job through [Backup] - [Back Up to Deduplication Disk Storage ...]
4. Make sure that [Enable the remote computer to directly access the storage device and to perform client-side deduplication, if it is supported] is selected in [Storage] pane for Backup Options.
5. Click [OK] twice to save the job
After performing this action, [Direct access properties] and [Direct access sharing] panes are displayed in the detail of the server name in Backup and Restore tab.
6. Restart the Backup Exec services
Perform the following step to
disable Client Side Deduplication
A. Changing individual jobs setting
1. Edit the job
2. Click edit again to open Backup Options
2. In Storage pane. select [Enable the remote computer to access the storage device through the Backup Exec server and to perform Backup Exec server-side deduplication, if it is supported].
3. Click [OK] twice to save the job
B. Changing the device setting
1. Go to [Storage]-[Deduplication disk storage detail]-[Properties]
2. Select [Disable] for Client-side deduplication.
2. Click [Apply]
3. Restart Backup Exec Services
C. Changing Job Defaults for newly created job.
1. Go to [Veritas Backup Exec icon]-[Configuration and Settings]-[Job Defualts]-[Backup to Deduplication Disk Storage Device]-[Storage]
2. Select [Enable the remote computer to access the storage device through the Backup Exec server and to perform Backup Exec server-side deduplication, if it is supported] on the all backup types.
