Lotus Domino End of Life with Backup Exec 16

If you are an existing Backup Exec user, at the time of upgrade from an older version to Backup Exec 16, the following popup message is displayed during the environment checks.

Click OK to continue with the environment check. After the check is complete, a separate warning message is also displayed in the Environment check report.

At this point you can decide whether or not to upgrade to Backup Exec 16. You cannot go back to the older version after the upgrade is complete.

Existing Domino jobs
  • If you choose to go ahead with the upgrade from earlier version of Backup Exec, you can still see the Domino backup sets and the earlier Domino backup jobs. But if you try to run these jobs, the following error message is displayed.

  • Similarly if you try to restore the Domino Server backup sets from dedupe storage and tapes; the restore job fails with the error message as above.
  • After upgrade as long as you do not upgrade the RAWS, the Domino Resources are displayed and you can select these resources for backup. But when you try to run the backup, an error message similar to the earlier message is displayed.
  • Once you upgrade the RAWS, Domino Resources are no longer displayed. And so you cannot create new backup job for the Domino Server.
  • In case of a CAS-MMS distributed setup, if CAS is upgraded to Backup Exec 16 and MMS and RAWS (Domino Server) is an older version, you can take a backup of the Domino Server if backup points to an old MMS version.

Issue/Introduction

If you are an existing user upgrading from older version of Backup Exec to Backup Exec 16, the Lotus domino Server components are not displayed. All Domino resources are displayed as file system.
