Description

Error Message

0xe0000311 - Unable to rebind a file to its Single Instance data

Cause

SIS is not supported on Windows 2016.

Resolution

Restore the SIS volume on the same machine that was used for backup. For example, if the SIS volume was backed up on a machine that ran Windows 2008 R2, then restore is successful. If you upgrade the machine to Windows 2012, the restore will still be successful. But, if you upgrade that machine to Windows 2016, the restore job will fail.

Note that redirected restores of SIS data are not supported by Backup Exec. For details, see https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.000087161
