Error message if the ISO is not accessible by the Hyper-V manager:
Hyper-V Virtual Machine Management service Account does not have permission to open attachment 'C..\test_dvd.iso'. Error: 'General access denied error'.Error message if the drive is already in use by another virtual machine:
Microsoft emulated IDE Controller (Instance ID 12345XYZ): Failed to Power on with Error 'The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.'
Resolution
On the Hyper-V manager, change the instantly recovered virtual machine settings so that they point to an ISO that is accessible by the Hyper-V manager or point to a drive that is not being used by another virtual machine. Start the instantly recovered virtual machine.
Issue/Introduction
The instant recovery job is successful but the instantly recovered virtual machine fails to start if the virtual machine settings points to an ISO that is not accessible by the Hyper-V manager or it points to a drive such as a DVD or USB drive that is already in use by another virtual machine.
