Common Error Messages

"User share path not found. The user share path format could be different from the path configured in Symantec DLO"

This means that the path entered for the Source does not exist in the DLO Database and Scenarios 2 or 3 below, should be followed.

"The recovery password is incorrect."

This message means that the password entered is not the same that was stored in the users .recovery password file.  Please try using a different password.  If the recovery password can not be identified, the EmergencyRestore command will not be able to restore the users data.

Solution Scenarios

Scenario 1:
An Emergency Restore needs to be performed for the user  User1.  The Source path can be found in the DLO Admin Console by clicking on Setup -> Users and then looking at User1's Network User Data Folder (NUDF) location.

User-added image

In the above screenshot  User1's NUDF folder is "\\ DLOSERV\DLOStorage-2-SL\BACKUPEXEC-User1"

The command to restore the users files using the EmergencyRestore switch would be this:
DLOCommandu.exe -EmergencyRestore \\DLOSERV\DLOStorage-2-SL\BACKUPEXEC-User1 -W MyPassWord -AP c:\temp -I

This will restore all of Users1's files to the C:\temp folder.

Scenario 2:
If User1 still exists in Active Directory, but has been deleted from the DLO Console and his data now needs to be restored, the following steps can be performed to restore the data.

1. Restore the users NUDF folder from a backup to the original location.
2. Re-add the user into the DLO Admin Console and use the same storage location that he was previously using.
3. Run the DLOCommand -EmergencyRestore command using the above steps in Example 1.

Scenario 3:
If User1 no longer exists in Active Directory and therefore can not be re-added into the DLO Admin Console, the data can be restored to the NUDF folder from backup and the user name can be renamed to match an existing user that is in the DLO Admin Console.

1. Find another user in the DLO Console that was using the same NUDF Storage location as User1.  Disable the user in the DLO Admin Console by right clicking on the user and choosing Disable.
2. Rename the NUDF folder of the user that was disabled in step 1.
3. Restore User1's NUDF data from a backup.
4. Rename User1's NUDF folder to match the name of the user that has been disabled in the DLO Admin Console.
5. Run the Emergency Restore command as in Scenario 1, but use the path to the Restored data for User1

Issue/Introduction

With the introduction of Dedupe in the Desktop and Laptop Option (DLO) version 7.5 and VIP user in DLO 7.6 changes were made in the DLOCommand -EmergencyRestore switch to recovery data.

The DLO and Dedupe databases (if Dedupe is being used) are required in order to successfully complete the EmergencyRestore.

When running DLOCommandu -EmergencyRestore the usershare path referenced has to match the share path listed in the DLO Admin Console.
