Description
Error Message
Backup Exec logs a message in the install log if the install fails when the user goes ahead with the installation after the server restart pending warning message.
UMI: V-225-314
Cause
The installation might fail when following registry keys are present even after a server restart:
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SessionManager\
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\Auto Update\RebootRequired
These registry keys indicate that a server restart is pending.
Resolution
A server restart should automatically clear these registry keys. But, if these keys are still present after reboot, the installation might fail. If the server restart does not clear these registry keys, please contact Microsoft support.
Issue/Introduction
During environment check, the Backup Exec installer displays a server restart pending warning and if the user continues with the installation without a server restart, the installation might fail.
