The option to change the catalog location is not available on a Managed Media Server or Managed Backup Exec Server in a Central administration server (CASO) environment.

Backup Exec 2012 and Above

If the MBES Configuration option "Unrestricted access to catalogs and backup sets for restores" is enabled on the MBES server then the catalog location can only be centralized by virtue of the SSO option.
Catalogs will be stored on the CASO server.

Note: SSO option was changed to "Unrestricted access to catalogs and backup sets for restores"  in Backup Exec 2012 and above.



In order to have the ability to change the catalog location on the MBMS server to any of the three available options un check/remove the remove "Unrestricted access to catalogs and backup sets for restores" option. (FIGURE 2)

Issue/Introduction

In a CASO environment the Managed Media Server (MMS) or Managed Backup Exec Server (MBES) catalog location is set to Central Administration Server (Centralized) and the option to change the setting to Managed Media Server (Distributed) or Both Servers (Replicated) is not available (FIGURE 1) .
