Resolution
Warning: Incorrect use of the Windows registry editor may prevent the operating system from functioning properly. Great care should be taken when making changes to a Windows registry. Registry modifications should only be carried-out by persons experienced in the use of the registry editor application. It is recommended that a complete backup of the registry and workstation be made prior to making any registry changes.
1. On the remote server, open the registry editor (Start > Run, Regedit).
2. Navigate to the following entry:
HKLocal_Machine\SOFTWARE\Veritas\Backup Exec for Windows\Backup Exec\Engine\Agents
3. In the right-hand pane, check for Value name 'Advertised Name Ok List'. If that does not exist, create that by Right clicking in the right window, select New and Multi-String Value, name the new value as follows:
Advertised Name Ok List
4. Double click on the 'Advertised Name Ok List' value to edit the data and provide the fully qualified domain name.( or a specific IP address, if the server has two NIC cards)
5. Close the registry editor.
The field should now be properly populated; open Windows Services and restart the Backup Exec Remote Agent for Windows Servers.
