You must install the Windows Imaging Component (WIC) before you install Symantec System Recovery. After you install WIC, run the installation wizard again.
ERROR: Installation failed with error 1603.

Cause

This error occurs if you push-install System Recovery with user interface on the client computers that do not have WIC installed. The System Recovery installation program checks if Microsoft .NET 4.0 is installed on the client computer and as a result checks for WIC. If WIC is not found on the client computer, the installation fails with the above error.

Resolution

Install WIC components on the client computer using Windows Update or a patch update and then install System Recovery.


Issue/Introduction

Push installation of System Recovery (VSR) from System Recovery Management Solution (VSR-MS) fails and the following error appears in the SSRINST.htm log file:
