Resolution

Several root-causes have been identified to contribute to this behavior:

1. The VSS environment on the client is producing errors. This can be observed in the Event Logs at the time of the backup.  The observed error will need to be addressed for a proper VSS driven incremental backup job to succeed.

2. The Revision Control tab in the Backup Selections of the Profile must be configured to keep at least 1 revision on the Desktop User Data Folder and at least 1 revision on the Network User Data Folder.

3. The Options tab in the Backup Selections of the Profile must be configured with Delta File Transfer enabled.

4. The Options tab within the Profile must have "Enable VSS backups of Outlook PST files every x minutes" checked and thereby enabled.

5. The Desktop Agent must not have its file-system formatted using FAT 32.

Issue/Introduction

It is possible for Desktop Laptop Option (DLO) to backup PST files incrementally when configured to use the VSS method. Although the first backup needs to be a full backup, subsequent backups should be incremental. Sometimes subsequent backups are full.
